Secondary school teacher rapes SS 1 student
A 33-year-old teacher, Mr. Elom Levi who raped his 21 years old Senior Secondary School student, Okorie Onyinyechi in one of the secondary schools at Agueke Isu in Onicha LGA of Ebonyi state, has been remanded in prison by a Magistrate court in the state.


Elom reportedly invited Onyinyechi to his house to copy the note she will write for the rest of the class, on the claim that he was traveling and wouldn’t be around to do so by himself.
However, while Onyinyechi, reportedly honoured the invitation, Elom allegedly took her to an uncompleted building after copying the note, were she carried out the act.

The charge sheet stated “that you Elom Levi ‘M’, on the 13th day of June, 2018 at Onicha in the Abakaliki Magisterial District of this Honourable court, did have unlawful carnal knowledge of one Okorie Onyinyechi ‘F’ aged 21, without her consent and thereby committed an offence punishment under section 358 of the criminal code cap 33 vol.1 laws of Ebonyi state of Nigeria, 2009.”
The suspect was however remanded at the Abakaliki prison as the cases were adjourned to August 27, 2018, for further hearing.

When completed, most of the youths who are into drugs will be brought here; those that require sensitisation will be kept for sensitisation. Those that need to be counselled will be counselled. And after that, they will be reintegrated into the society,” he added.

In Akwa Ibom state, 2,045 Permanent Voters Cards said to have been stolen by suspected hoodlums in the state. This was disclosed by The National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission Supervising  Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Delta states, Dr.Mustapha

Lecky told newsmen at the Commission’s Secretariat in Uyo, the state capital, that at the end of his assessment tour of the state to ascertain the success of display of voters’ list, 2,045 Permanent Voters Cards was stolen by suspected hoodlums in one of the INEC offices in Okobo Local Government area of the state during a mob action by youths who invaded the office to protest results of the last primary elections.

Indigenous Boko Haram commanders killed in Borno
On Sunday, two commanders have been confirmed dead by The Nigeria Army. The Nigeria Army said its troops have killed two Boko Haram commanders in Borno State. The two high profiled commanders named Abu Rajal and Tuja Sa’inna Banki was said to have been killed during the clearance operations.
This was stated by the The Nigeria Army on its official Twitter handle on Sunday.
The tweet reads, “Recall that troops of 25 Task Force Brigade, Chibok and 28 Task Force Brigade, Damboa, embarked on Joint Clearance Operations from Gumsuri to Gambori in Borno on Nov. 9, 2018; they successfully cleared and liberated some villages.
“Reports just reaching Nigerian Army Headquarters, confirmed that two high profile Boko Haram terrorists’ commanders named Abu Rajal and Tuja Sa’inna Banki were killed during the clearance operations.
